Description
Join us for a special October workshop! Create your own scented magic with Hoodoo, the African American healing system from the Yoruban Diaspora. Storytelling and history go hand in hand with your creativity. We will create personalized Mojo Bags for good luck, Bath Salts to release that which no longer serves us, Room Sprays to positively effect the energies of your space, and custom colognes to draw in what you are trying to manifest.
This fragrantly co-creative, scent-based workshop will help you draw in the energies you want in your life and teach you how to clear lower negative energies. Gather with Lakenda Wallace, Perfumer and Teacher, to understand the energies at play as the veil between worlds draws thin.
BIO: Lakenda Wallace is a descendant of the Gullah Geechee, the culture of the Hoodoo tradition. She is a Natural Perfumer and Teacher for the Institute of Art + Olfaction, as well as Berkeley Herbal Center and the Northern California Women's Herbal Symposium. Lakenda's love of fragrant plants has led her to create Modern Peasant. Her work often includes extracting scent from plant materials and blending those extracts into beautiful, complex natural perfumes.
ABOUT HOODOO: Hoodoo is an African American healing tradition that is directed by your intentions and supported with plants through cleansing baths, colognes, and more. The Gullah Geechee came to America as slaves to grow rice. They accepted Christianity, but used the wisdom of the Yoruba to teach through stories and craft magic from the Earth.
